jtryka
While I see the need for caution from pauldean, the way to really learn how to spot fakes is by looking at as many real coins as possible. I have seen hundreds, if not thousands of genuine US gold coins, so when I see a suspicious coin it really sticks out. Can I tell through a computer screen if it's a fake, no, but I can certainly identify from an image whether the coin has obvious reasons for concern. If you don't know what you are doing, buy only reputable TPG certified coins and verify the cert number before you buy.
28Plain
I know grading is subjective, and that varies with the person looking at it and their experience in the hobby/business. If you were to assign a grade to this coin, what in your estimation would it be? Just curious......thanks!Doug IMO, this'un would make the cut for AU55. There's too much in the way of bagginess for a 58 to my eye. Good buy, especially with spot climbing daily.
LostDutchman
from handling lots of them..you notice things...gold seems to retain a lot of luster even after being baggy. I see coins that would grade out XF by a TPG but still have quite a bit of luster...
