ikaros
I wonder what a clad or a Sacagawea would look like done this way. Probably kinda cool.

I beleieve the metal is not soft enough, has to be silver... on that same note if you have big hands you could use a Mogan or a Silver Ike. -Bobby

Well, it can't hurt to try. At most, it'll cost fifty cents or a dollar, and a little time. I don't mind adding a failed experiment to the annals of human knowledge--heck, a spectacularly failed experiment won one American physicist the Nobel Prize... BiggAndyy
IIRC the clads and saqs are annealed before striking to soften the metal but the striking process hardens them and more importantly brittles them up. You might be able to make a pre 1982 copper cent into a barbie or ken doll coin ring but the clads and saqs are right out.

Mark Stilson
We used to make rings in welding class at high school. Most turned up pretty nice, unless the person making it got in a hurry.
Judd
Coin Rings are great. I sent this guy a Barber Half dollar and he made it into a coin ring. He even makes rings out of tokens. www.thecoinsmith.net
