fingers crossed!

I've really enjoyed starting my world gold collection, especially considering the mind boggling number of countries that have produced gold coins through the centuries. I have admired the US gold coins, but haven't yet "pulled the trigger". I have my eye on this half-eagle from 1900, and have submitted my bid. Fingers crossed, she'll come home to join her gold cousins from other countries.

I gotta' say, these Liberty head gold pieces are sure beautiful! :ninja:

Anyone else a fan of this series of coins? I'd love to hear your thoughts on collecting these!

The MS62 looks better than the proof! :ninja: From the pics, that MS62 looks very nice. Good luck!

thanks Stujoe! Frankly, i've got an idea of what these go for, but in doing some research, MS62 is as high as i'll want to go; it seems the MS64 and above really tacks on the bucks! I'll know in a couple of days whether my price was right

Nice choices Doogy! Personnally I would go for the proof as they are much rarer than the business strikes, as there were 1.4 million business strikes minted, but only 230 proofs. Early proofs like that half eagle are so overlooked by the broad collector market, and I believe they are one of the best bargain areas in the market currently. Good luck and let us know how it turns out! :ninja:

I suspect that the proof would look much nicer if you tipped it to show off the mirrors. The MS62 does look nice though.
