ok im new to this and need some help .. i got coin books and in some of them it says for ex:


1954 ShoulderStrap

1954 No ShoulderStrap


i do not know what this is if any one has pics it would help me out ... i see this in the 1 cent and 5 cents coin books thx

The easiest way is to look at the "I" in "DEI" of the obverse legend:


NSS (NSF): I is flared, points between 2 denticles.

SS (SF): I is nearly straight-sided, points nearly straight at a denticle.
