syzygy
Krause says the population of the Isle of Man is about 68,000. Seems like they have made that many different coins in just the last few years. In otherwords, they are a bit on the commercial side in the coin minting area. Still, I have always wanted a cat coin and so there is room in my silver hunk collection for this one. KM #234 .999 silver, 1 oz.
Burks
Isle of Man makes a lot of different coins. I like quite a few of them, the one you posted as well.
geordie582
My newest indulgence and identification project. I am thinking maybe 1600's European? Any ideas? It's about 19mm and appears to be silver. Byzantine. Spinks has a full catalogue. Sorry, but I sent it back to the library only last week, so I can't help further! syzygy
Byzantine. Spinks has a full catalogue. Sorry, but I sent it back to the library only last week, so I can't help further! I am thinking that this is from Venice 1200-1400. Check out the similarities with the AR Grosso coins here -> link. I am on the lookout for a cataloge and any further info. syzygy
My very first coin from Iceland. 1000 Kronur, KM# 21, .925 silver, 1100th Anniversery of the first settlement.
geordie582
I think you're probably correct. It's a pity you can't quite make out the obverse legend! The later Roman and the Eastern Byzantine do seem to be simmilar!
Art
Beautiful coins.

It's about 19mm and appears to be silver. Looks like it might be Serbian. It is a "banner" type. Legend looks like it reads "UROSIUS | REX | S STEFAN", which would be either King Stefan Uros I Nemanjic (1243-1276) or King Stefan Uros II Milutin (1282-1321). These were made to look similar to the issues of the Doges of Venice, as the Venetian coins were introduced to the region during the 4th crusades of the early 1200's. If you notice, most of the Venetian pieces have DUX (Duke), vertically between the figures on the obverse. Yours, as most Serbian pieces, has REX (King). I did notice the R instead of D (or what sometimes looked like a P) that I was seeing on all the Venetian pieces - thanx much for the info! syzygy
I think this is an 1762 10 Soldi from Milan. Hopefully, there is enough detail for better identification.
syzygy
I'm not certain that this is an official Mexican coin. It appears to be silver and is all of 10 mm! Quite a challenge to photograph. My Krause does not list it in the Maximilian section.
Mark Stilson
I can't spot a Maximilian like this in my book either. The obverse is the same as a 1866 since it does not have the ribbon? below the bust, But the reverse does not match anything.
syzygy
Ok, it's not a new coin, but....I *really* like my coffee and I got tired of drinking it from the stupid freebie cup d'jour. So I had this one made today using pics from a favorite Constantine / Jupiter of mine. Geeky, but I like it

jlueke
Awesome, I've got to make me a cup too. Did you use one of the online picture services?
syzygy
Awesome, I've got to make me a cup too. Did you use one of the online picture services? I had it done at one of those mall kiosks - I just gave him a couple of .jpgs and it only took him about 20 min. Probably could have have saved a buck or two doing it elsewhere but I saw him this weekend and made a note to go check it out after work. syzygy
Did some coin shopping recently - has been a while... A couple of Australian Pennies - always liked both of these designs and want to get a nicely struck MS roo some time....
syzygy
A couple of Canadian cents and a New Foundland cent as well...
syzygy
A US large cent type set would be nice although higher grade examples are quite pricey. These two seemed pretty decent for the grade.
Art
Great purchases, especially the Large Cents -- US & Canadian.

syzygy
Some Canadian silver. I think the reverse on the half is outstanding.
