Tiffibunny
Someone gives you $550 and says you have to get coins with it. What do you buy? A bunch of things, or one big thing? Be specific.
Scottishmoney
Cripes, right now I have $ to spend, but there is not a lot lately that I can find. Except for ancients that is. I wish I could find a Ryal from Mary Queen of Scots, but nothing nice for sale now.
jtryka
I would buy a cheap double eagle, or more likely an undervalued Liberty eagle in AU to low MS.
Art
For me an easy reply. First -- 1857 Large Cent VF35/35, nice chocolate brown cost approx $265.00 So I've got roughtly 300 left to spend. Second -- 2006 American Silver Eagle -- $10 An IHC from my want list -- approx $275 (1870s -- xf)
Ætheling
Something gold.
jlueke
One big thing to be sure. For $550 I'd look at late sestertii, something from Gordian III or Valerian with a realistic portrait.
bustchaser
I would add a couple of 100 and get this. In fact I am trying very hard to talk myself out of pulling the trigger even without you giving me the $550, Tiff.
Burks
For me it would be an 09-S-VDB Lincoln in the best possible condition that money could buy. It's all I need (other then the 22 no D "error") to complete my set.

BiggAndyy
An 09SVDB for investment. They tend to double in 4 years. Otherwise I would get Ruger Super Redhawk .44 magnum and just take all yours

Guest Stujoe
Hey, this is about someone giving me $550, right? A Texas is a good idea. You could get a great MS65 and have a lot left over!

akdrv
I would get two MS state thalers or marks. Something like this:

I have a penchant for expensive coins... get them when you get the opportunity is my motto. You might never get the chance again.
Tane
I just got 475 €uros for almost free as I performed Santa at Christmas-eve. I am having a hard time on deciding what to buy with it. Suppose I should save a part of it for the rainy day... Though I have already ordered two new gold coins - bad me

Trantor_3
set it aside and hope for a bunch of more of those gifts and get me a 1892 10 Gulden from The Netherlands. If that's not allowed, there's plenty of holes in my US type set to fill, like a "CC" Morgan, various "Liberty Seated" coinage, that same "S" IHC that Art mentioned. AuldFartte
Hmm ... decisions, decisions ... Either a VERY nice early US copper (Unc Half Cent, VF Classic Head Large cent, VF Draped Bust LC) or something British, pre-Victoria and nicely toned UNC ... like a George IV Shilling
Dan769
I would buy a nice Au Indian $10 Eagle, or a CC Trade Dollar in XF, or some early gold from Portugal. Which ever was the nicest for the $$$
