Over Mint Mark

Recommended Posts

Over Mint Mark – This variety occurred from money saving attempts by the mint. Occasionally, dies from one mint factory were sent to another to be used instead of new dies being created. If the mint mark was already punched, the mint would simply punch the proper mark over the existing one. Example D over S.
