SlavicScott
I thought that I read somewhere, that the USSR devaluated the ruble prior to the release of the 1961-91 series of coinage. Anybody have any further information on this? If it is true, anyone know what the rate was? 1 new ruble = 100 old rubles??? 1000 old rubles??? ??? old rubles??? akdrv
In May 1961 the rouble was re-denominated and devalued. One new rouble exchanged for 10 old roubles. At the same time the gold content of the rouble was only increased four times to equal 0.987412 grams of fine gold.
