zoso
Hello all, I'm new to this forum I have a 2004 Canadian specimen set that includes all 7 Canadian coins (including the special edition quarter with red poppy in center).....the center of the two dollar coin is not in properly and it is out nearl the entire way on one side causing a noticeable bump or ridge in the coin...this coin set has never been opened and came with the defected two dollar coin in it. I'm just wondering if this is worth any money? Thanks for your time Tim

zoso
Ok heres a picture with my webcam from both sides (couldnt find my digital camera) and i did a scan of it too and you can kind of see how it is indented in on the lower right corner of it in the scan picture from heads side, you can clearing see that the center is protruding up from tails side, can see where it dips on the far side of the coin picture of the whole set scanned (i used the floss to angle it to make it easier to see) if you zoom in on the two dollar coin you can see in the bottom right hand corner the indent
gxseries
Webcam should be banned when it comes down to taking coin pictures. It could be possible that the two different metals in the bi-metal got struck an uneven process. Afterall, a Canadian 2 dollar is way too thin for a bimetal. zoso
sorry about the webcam...you can still see the defect good enough tho....do you think this is worth anything or just normal retail price for the set?
gxseries
Well I am not too sure but to appear in a mint set like that, it might be worth a bit more. I am rather suprised that it eventually made its way to a mint set without getting detected.

ccg
I'm guessing the core just kind of popped. If so, then it'd be hard to call an error, and would have minimal premium, if any.
