Vfox
I got a Brazilian 1815 960 reis struck overtop a 1814 8 reale.....from friggin Santiago...the host coin is like 10 times more rare than the overstrike lol. Oh well, at least I can say I sort of own a Santiago 8 reale right? lol. I'll post pics tomorrow....the old date and mintmark are very clear btw. Vfox
Copied from my "Vfox's Vfinds" Â Here is an Brazil under Portugal 960 Reis from 1815 struck overtop a 1814 Ferdinand VII of Spain 8 Reale minted in Santiago. I really like that nearly ever example of these coins are struck atop 8 Reales and what really gets me about this is that an 1814 8 reale from Santiago is worth 10 times as much as this 960 Reis. It's an interesting example. Â Â Here is some detail of the host coin:
Vfox
I've been busy.  1811 Armored bust of Ferdinand VII Mo (Mexico City) Mexico mintmark Assayer H.J. 26.63g  This has strong central details but lacks a well struck edge, it is slightly oversized at 39.5mm so it could have been struck within a loose collar. I say this because the edge is missing the ◘o◘o◘o◘o◘o◘o pattern in two spots.

KoRnholio
Even though I am not really a fan at all of the Newfoundland series, I love the toning. These are the seller's photos, in hand the colors aren't quite as dark/vibrant, but still great. Â Â

KoRnholio
What does a lot of 2000+ coins look like? I think I will be busy for a long, long time with this one. This lot is mostly Canadian pennies 1920-1953. Some 1920-1970 Canadian nickles and a handful of coins from Peru and China. I've only begun to pick through it, but there are some decent grades so far.  PS if anyone needs Canadian pennies dates 1920-1952, drop me a line

jtryka
Got this 1836 bustie a couple weeks ago, a new 1812 should be coming this week! http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/re...opleSetID=32407
thedeadpoint
Great luster, Jeff. As much as I want a bust hald that pretty, I'd have to pay a pretty penny according to heritage. Â can't wait to see the 1812
jtryka
Yeah, I don't remember exactly what I paid, but that one was over $500, the 1818 is a wonderful XF and I paid $463 (I bought them both from a bustie collector on the NGC forum that I respect very much!)
