A quick hello.

Recommended Posts

Hi.  Just saying hello.  I have joined the forum to try and gain some information on a collection of coins that belonged to my dad.  There are 1000s of mainly British coins ranging from 19th and 20th century.  I take it cleaning any of it is not a good idea?    There are lots of 20th century commemorative coins too.  I may look  for an appraiser locally but wouldn’t know if I was getting a fair valuation or not or even if it is worth getting it valued.  There seems to be a collection of pennies in one album, one for each year, dating back to 1874.  I haven’t checked all the dates but that is how it seems.

There are also more modern coins, sets from pre decimal coins from 1970 and of the new decimal coins issued in 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, and 1976.  Some farthings, and other bits too.

I have no idea about any of this so looking forward to learning something.  I have attached a few pictures of the collection below.

thanks.
