Guest Stujoe
1943 cents were steel plated zinc. I have never heard of the gov't copper plating any 1943 cents but plenty of them have been plated by individuals and other entities. It appears that I can see either the undelying zinc or steel in places on teh one you found.
Dockwalliper
Thats one of the best dug '43s I've seen. Usually they are just rusty disks.
whohah
If it is attracted to a magnet, you have an interesting souvenir of WW II. Value? In that condition 2, maybe 3 cents... If it doesn't jump to a magnet, get it to an expert for authentication. Value? Well, lets just say: A LOT!!!! OBTW, it is Zinc-plated steel... LostDutchman
you can see the zinc peeking through....this coin sorry to say is a plate job done by someone trying to deceive or at least fool their friends. as for the government plating.....never heard of it

Conder101
In the 1950's the government was actively retiring the steel cents and melting them down, not plating them.
