1982 D SMALL DATE FINNALLY!

Second 1982-D Small Date Copper Alloy Lincoln cent discovered. A second 1982-D Small Date homogenous copper alloy Lincoln cent has been discovered. Like the original discovery coin this latest find is also graded AU-58. According to the PCGS label it weighs 3.07 grams – close enough to be within a reasonable tolerance.May 2, 2019

then if you think this is the real deal send it to a grading company and see what they think that way you have expert opinions backing your opinion up

this way not many can say otherwise as you have had experts look it over and give their opinions on the coin

i am not a coin collector but i am confused because half say its the 3.1 gram penny thats rare the other half say its the 2.5 . i went to a coin shop and the owner told me its not worth getting graded and didnt offer me anything for it. then another shop told me he would give me 20$ for it as is but not worth grading. where can i find a honest coin grading place

Your cent is a 1982D small date variety copper-plated zinc cent (weighing in at 2.5g).  These cents are quite common.  The key variety is the 1982 small date copper-plated zinc cent which is worth about twice as much in choice uncirculated grades.  A true rarity for these varieties would be a 1982D small date copper alloy cent weighing in at 3.11g, which yours is unfortunately not.

The other day at the gas station I was given a 1982 D small date that weights 3.07 grams it worth anything
