gxseries
Was looking up about the 1859 ruble and found that there are two different varieties - convex and normal coinage. The convex type is apparently scarcer. Looked up on m-dv.ru and found it hard to tell the differences. Maybe it's easier to tell on hand...? Any tips to tell the differences? Thanks! ViFi
I think it´s very hard to say this not having those 2 different types in your hands. Or you should at least must see a lot of them in the past to be able to see the difference between convex and normal coinage. There are few other such coins with hard to see differences. gxseries
Thanks for the feedback ViFi. Im assuming I've got a normal type. Nothing screams too special to me.

Check here and here To my opinion, easiest way to distinguish is to look at lower front edge of the neck: - "convex die" - with sharp edge and usually at same level as the top of letter "H" - "flat die" - with rounded edge and usually below the top of letter "H" There are more smaller die varieties, so actual position of neck edge may vary for both types - that's why I used word "usually"
