Guest 50cents
Do you think this coin is AT or NT and please explain your answer .
bobbycoin
Let me see if I can get your images into the thread here: Based on my limited toning knowledge... I say AT because of the spots where there is not toning in the middle of the toning. My understanding is that NT would be even throughout the toning with no spots left out. -Bobby

jtryka
Nothing about that walker strikes me as AT, mainly because of all the white that remains. If someone really wanted to AT a coin, they would most likely make it as toned as possible without most of the coin remaining white. Also, I am not sure how easy it is to AT edge toning, as most chemical processes would spread. As for the white spots in the toning, it doesn't bother me, as it looks like there is a fingerprint there too. It is certainly possible for coins to tone with spots if there was a layer of grease from a finger covering the surface. To me, this one looks like it's just been in an album for a while and toned where the edges were in contact with the cardboard. Just my opinion though, and worth every penny you paid for it! Guest Stujoe
I think it is NT. Looks like some of the white spots breaking up the toning are from fingerprints. I do not find it particularly attractive toning and would not pay any premium for it. And my opinion is worth a bit less than what you paid jtryka for his. UncleBobo
Looks like natural toning with fingerprints in it. I know I'm not adding much to the conversation but that's all I got!
28Plain
I agree with Jeff and Stu. This looks like rim toning from an album, especially with the fingerprint. Seeing the coin in hand might change my mind, though.
LostDutchman
that is NT it starts from the outside and goes towards the center....this type of toning comes in being in an album for quite some time....

LostDutchman
this coin could have also been in a mint set....The mint sets back then consisted of a cardboard card with holes for the coin and paper on both sides...they tone like that sometimes... Tiffibunny
I'd go with NT as well, I have one very similar.
gxseries
NT on this one... might be in some cardboard holder like others said.
BiggAndyy
Natural Toning. Because the pattern Green-Blue-Orange-Yellow from the outside to the in is only done by a natural process. Any types of Artificial Toning will have one or more of those colors missing.
Guest 50cents
NT, This coin came from a mint set (cardboard) and now will spend the rest of its life in a plastic holder. ( unless times really get hard) Even with the fingerprints on the reverse the coin still graded MS-65.
