ccg
Original. The design seems better suited for gold. That, or maybe it's because the silver modern one has a crummy pic.
Guest Stujoe
Even with the crummy pic , I prefer silver.

mmarotta
You guys made me go back and look at the silver. You are all wrong. Gold. When I clicked it up, I looked at the silver first. Nice coin. Gee, pretty... Then I clicked on the gold and I got this feeling in my mouth like hunger. Then, I read the replies. So, I went back and looked at the silver. Nice coin, still pretty, but the winner is the gold. If I were waiting for the guillotine, I would say, "It is a far, far better coin to own than I have ever owned." Of course silver has a different certain something: It's what I can afford
Ian
http://www.muenzehamburg.de/de/medaillen/seite_3_3_1.htm http://www.vcoins.com/world/parscoins/stor...uct=228&large=0 Interesting. of course there was more than one `Portugaloser issed by and for Hamburg. I don't have the gold one on hand for this one to do a direct comparison with, but I do have a 1980's .835 silver restrike of it which (at least for me) is jaw dropping.
