German Overprints on Spanish Notes

Hi All,

Spotted this forum while browsing for an answer which I will come to shortly.

Have not yet had much chance to look around but I will, I am a firm believer in the fact that the answers are out there somewhere and we are not all totally mad - just passionate about coins and banknote.

I have been collecting coins and banknotes for approx 40 years now and dealing a little latterly too.

I recently acquired a few Spanish notes with what appear to be German Military Authority Admin ?? Overprints. The banknotes are 1925 and 1928 issue and are quite normal with a relatively modest value. The overprint stamp is on the obverse and the reverse is unchanged. Has anyone any idea of the background of notes like this and what the value might be if different from the KP catalogue ? Clearly they had a connection with the German forces in Spain at the time of the civil war but any info beyond that would be interesting.

I will try to upload two scans of them if I can.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,

Igor74
