I know they are not to rival Sigi's collection coins, but I couldn't go past them, since I didn't have them yet... Now will be waiting for them to arrive.

Is collecting Russian coins becoming a little more affordable and fun again, or is it just me?

Alas, my money bag isn't bottomless, and I am happy to buy uncommon coins at reasonably cheap price sometimes. Guilty as charged :sorry: ... That let's me save money for coins that meet my interests or desires. :) The coins of rare rarity and quality are getting more and more expensive, that is true. By the way the eagle on 1788 SPM 5 kopecks is with some or the best details I've ever seen on these coins, so it's not so bad at all, if you look through coppers of this year...

It is all about collecting preferences. In my "later" collecting years I finally learned to practice self-restraint. At this point, I am ok with buying 1 - 2 beautiful coins a year (or, no coins) instead of a bunch of low grade cheaper ones. For whatever reason I no longer derive any joy from ugly coins. But, as I said, it is very personal.

I like beautiful expensive coins too, but buy them so rarely nowadays, that have nothing to show off for now, apart from what I showed in eBay watch section.

But, if anyone would like to get read of their ugly coins in a better state or rarity that they collected years ago, more than happy to see what you have, and may be buy, if I like them. I am officially, in love with beautiful ugly copper side of Russian Empire, particularly if there is a story behind it to uncover... :)

I find it hard to walk past some ugly coppers as well ;)

This one rather pricier, but I think it may be a reasonable grade / details for this type and year:

I'd keep away from this one - is it genuine? The color is supicious. It would be interesting to examine the edge. BTW - there is a nice one on eBay, I'd be tempted but mine is from the same dies both sides. See the eBay coin:

If you are really interested, I can go to the bank and send you some photos. I do not mind parting with coins I no longer like...

It probably went under one of the wheels that pushed edging plates in opposite directions, once one of the plates slipped away...

Here is another interesting coin (look at the rings!!):

As long as they are interesting to me (I need them) and I can afford them, I am more than interested to see what you keep in the bank. :)

PM me what you find interesting. (Period, emperor, denomination). I keep all kinds of things in the bank :-) Do yo have a list of coins you are looking for?

Right now I switched my collecting interest completely. Coins do not excite me anymore. Jump on the opportunity, until I get interested in coins again :-)

However, there is not too many ugly coins, or 5 kop coins for that matter -- too much weight.

Here is another interesting finding of Sestroretsk 5 kopeck with silver rouble eagle. Hopefully will get it soon. It's a lot rarer than copper eagle on Sestroretsk mint coins.
