US Mint Baseball Commemorative - First curved coin

Recommended Posts

The US Mint has announced the very first curved coin in US History. The Baseball commemorative series has a $5 gold piece, a $1.00 silver piece and a 50 cent piece (not sure of the content of that one). I was attempting to get further info from their website to share here but the site is overloaded and telling people to come back later. I'm guessing ordering opened for the Baseball coins today.

Any thoughts? Desirable? A "must have'? Who cares?

I'm very tempted to get a full set of these in both Proof and Unc. I think they might gain in value rather quickly. Plus at this time they'll be unique.

Yeah I'm tossing around the idea of buying a second set of silver. Would love a gold proof but man....

$450 seems almost too cheap to pass up. It'd be strictly to flip it later on.

The gold will be a huge flip. Think about it: gold is rising again, curved coin, AND a super popular subject that crosses several demographics that overlap.

Well I placed my order:

1x UNC/Proof Silver

1x Proof Clad (for dad, he's a baseball nut)

1x Proof Gold (hey......maybe someone will bounce a CC or check? Site says backordered so who knows. This IS the government).

Good luck on it. I don't think they'll up the production run but as I recall they do reserve the right to go back and lower the max quantities on orders.

I ordered the uncirculated dollar and half.

Both coins have been backordered until June.

I can wait...

PR70 pieces are actually SELLING for $3k+

Missed that boat. Got to learn to pull the trigger some day (I can count four different examples over the past two years I've lost out on $2k+ profits not only in coins, but stocks).

these are curved...

they look cool with the ball design though.

That's because in that time they did not have the technology to make good flat coins. This is intentional curved.
