constanius Posted February 16, 2014 Report Share Posted February 16, 2014 The 3 archbishops of Paris on the reverse of the medal had violent deaths: Mgr Affre, after being injured on the barricades in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, while attempting a mission of conciliation, dies June 27, 1848, Bishop Sibour is murdered by the dagger of a banned priest, Jean Verger, in Saint-Étienne-du-Mont Church, January 3, 1857, Mgr Darboy was killed by the bullets of the insurgents of the Commune, May 27, 1871, in the prison of La Roquette. The obverse is of the next archbishop of Paris.
