I have found another few coins with this brass looking ring around the edge. could this just be wear on the coin base metal showing thro. but ther is only one with extra printing on the edge. I have rtied taking another closer pic that's my best shot. I have posted them on new thread. as don't know how to up load on existing thread. Art1.2 Posted August 11, 2013 Report Share Posted August 11, 2013 It might be caused by being in the bottom of the big tubs/bags that the mint uses for coins as they come off the minting presses. As I recall the new process has these huge bins full of coins that are moved by forklifts vs. the old time bags. The weight has got to be enormous.
