What Coin do I have?!

Recommended Posts

I have a gold coin of my mothers here which states:

GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA 1826 (The image looks like a Greek middle aged man).

BRITANNIARUM REX FIDEI DEFENSOR (The image appears to be a lion stood on a crown with flowers underneath).

Much apprciated.

Depending on the size it's either a sixpence or a shilling.

Since those are normally silver, your piece is likely a genuine one that has been gold plated, or a brass forgery with the silvering worn off.

Appreciate the information ccg but £5 or so?

This was given to my mother by a person she cared for and, As I was told was found "in a golden ceramic casing", which leads me to believe it may be worth more?
