I did measurements as follows: Diameter 32,2mm Thickness 1mm Weight 7,891g I am not sure if it's made of gold or not. Did anyone of you met this before? constanius Posted January 16, 2013 Report Share Posted January 16, 2013 The A in the circle indicates gold and the 900 is for 'parts per thousand' equivalent to 21.60 carats. It appears to me to be genuine, a jeweler could tell you if it is gold. The weight seems about right to me. bill Posted January 17, 2013 Report Share Posted January 17, 2013 I remember that many banks in Germany sold gold and silver medals in the 60s of all sorts of designs. It was a way of selling bullion in small lots. They probably still do so. Gold was not sold in the U.S. at the time, but many of the designs, especially Kennedy pieces, looked like they were American made even though they were not.
