davebob
hi Today I was looking through some old English coins and noticed this 1862 halfpenny and I can't make up my mind if it looks to have a die letter? As you can see the coin is not the best of condition but I like the colour and am interested in the history of this coin. I also have 1827 one penny, the story behind this coin seems to be impressive. As I was holding the coin I was shocked and amazed to understand the story as I read more it was amazing to imagine the journey and places it has been. As I understand the entire mintage was shipped to Australia and then Tasmania. I also read somewhere that not many survived!! I'm in France and this coin has found its way into my collection a few hundred years later. If anyone can shed anymore light that would be great.. davebob
Hello there, Thankyou for the advice. I shall do that! But anyone reading this post please feel free to post any information here. Also if anyone has any information about varieties of pennys with Die letters. This is my new goal for the new year. Obtain half penny varities with die letter. I can't see it being easy or cheap. I'll keep my progress posted. Thanks
