Unknown
What is the reverse in teh 1898 Halfcrown? Even if you don't have a pic, could you post a link to one of those coins please? Thanks. PS: In case I miss it, a pm would not do me any harm...
28Plain
It's the shield reverse. Check your PM. I sent a link to an image. It's a little eerie, but the one I have and the one I sent an image of have almost identical coloring in the toning and they're the same grade. The one in the pic has a few rim nicks that mine doesn't have. Thanks, Ed
Unknown
I just received it! Better than I expected! Thank you very much! I really like it.
28Plain
Glad you like it. The cleaning was very mild apparently. It looked as though someone gave it an ammonia dipping to remove the colorful toning. Bet it tones back to some nice hues over the next decade or so. 28Plain
I edited the lead post since the other sterlings sold. This is just so latecomers to the thread don't think they're in the twilight zone. ;-)
Unknown
Call me stupid, but I just realiced that the one I have is fro 1852, and I fancy having this one too.... I am debating in my head wether to go for it or not... How baggy is it? Let's say compare to the coin I just bought from you?
28Plain
Similar surfaces, but this one has no colorful toning. It's about typical for the grade since these circulated a bit to arrive at VF. My idea of VF is that the loop in the braid has worn flat but the rest of the facial features are still very bold. I've seen examples worn more than this one offered as XF, but we know better here. ;-) Naturally, you have a full return privilege if you decide it's not to your liking.
