LaDale
Would FNB of Glens Falls be considered a rare issuer? I have ...... 1929 $50 First National Bank of Glens Falls, New York Thanx!
Saor Alba
The value of a VF- very fine example of the $50 would be about $650, the notes are scarce but not very rare. This denomination on that bank was only printed in the first series in 1929, the second type went up to the $20 only. The charter number is 980, and the bank was charted on 5 April 1865. At last report by the Federal Reserve in 1935 there was $134.000 in notes still circulating.
LaDale
Saor Alba, Thanx for taking the time to respond!
Saor Alba
If it weren't for the ragged top edge on that note it would be worth more than the price I quoted above. Other than the edge and the little bit of writing on the left side it is a better note to collect and still is because it is a high VF low EF example other than the distractions.
