neweden
I collect mercs, there not bad its a pity the US does not make coins of his long lost cousin Hermes messenger of the gods.
Steve D'Ippolito
Well, technically it's Liberty wearing a winged cap signifying freedom of thought. But of course the resemblance and confusion was unavoidable. The only real classical imagery on the coin is the fasces on the reverse, which was the old Roman symbol of authority. Roman magistrates (consuls and the like) had lictors in their entourage, who would carry a fasces as the magistrates' emblem of office). Anyhow that clown in Italy from 1923-1944 caused "fasces" to forever be associated with brutalitarian dictatorships, just like another rather notorious individual at the same time but on the other side of the Alps ruined the swastika good luck sign. Steve D'Ippolito
OK, finally got mine uploaded. The photograph stinks. It's very well struck actually, lots of detail in the hair I never knew was supposed to be there. http://www.cyberian.com/us_coins/I6.html Fred's has wonderful toning. Dockwalliper
The 16D is the tough one and there are already 3 pictured so I'm betting a full set would be a sure thing.

Steve D'Ippolito
I presently have 10 completed sets. Working on sets #11 and #12. Daaaang.... OK you get the award for "most obsessed" Coin Person. (I thought I was bad with my Russian Imperial. I never came close to completing even a type set.) You probably have enough material to start writing a VAMS-like book.
