allanwhitt
Hello I have just joined and this is my first post. I have a quantity of WWII Japanese Occupation Notes but I would like to know if anyone knows what the second letter means on the notes itself? I know that they were issued in 5 different countries and the first letter refers to the country it was meant to be used in eg: B Burma M Malaya P Philapines S Indonesia O oceania But does anyone know what the second letter means eg on the Malaya notes it says MP or MT ect? Any help would be great Thanks Allan

Art
Hello and welcome to CoinPeople. I do not know anything about that but would suggest that if someone does not come along with the answer you could send your question to the good folks at MPC Gram. They have many people there who specialize in all types of Military Issued Currencies. I'll look up their email address and add it to this post when I find it. almingbg
These are block letters; depending of the banknote, block letters go from MA to MT. Banknotes of the first issue have two letters, later issues have only one letter (M).
