1726 plate money in Heritage auction

Something about the patina on this one bothers me, but I'm definitely out of my league on this one:

Perhaps the patina's pattern could make some kind of pedigree possible?

These were artificially patinated by the mint. Like medals. That patina normally remains intact and protects the coin. I had one with serious rot issues, but the areas not touched by corrosion were like new and red/brown. This one, if original Novodel, has serious environmental damage. Could be extreme heat that caused it...
