elverno
1798 Société des sciences et des arts, France. 31mm Hennin - 863 d'Essling - 1810 I love these local issues by societies of "gentleman" scientists and artists. Must be nice to have enough money to goof around like that. Although to be fair there were quite a few decent scientists and artists among them. But I'd guess that those folks had to sit through quite a few lectures that made them cringe... This group was in Bordeaux.

Art
Very nice medals. I guess a society like that could greatly encourage research and progress through peer interactions.
