WCO
I am wondering about this gold coin. Country, denomination, year, KM (or other) catalog numbers, may be links to auctions where it was sold. Looks like India but I was unable to find it in catalogs. Thank you. http://i01.expertcollector.com/uploads/0003000793_1.jpg http://i01.expertcollector.com/uploads/0003000793_2.jpg
Saor Alba
I am guessing an Indian Native State coinage of some sort - the GR on it is a clue that it could be from the reigns of one of the British monarchs named George.
WCO
Thank you for the reply. Somewhat similar looking coins that I found are from Benghal Presidency but not exactly like this one with letters "GR". I need to identify this exact coin. Saor Alba
The SE Asia catalogue was one I always wanted but never bought - and generally when I can identify coins from India it is only because I already have it or have seen one. This example, if in fact from India, would have to have been minted in the reigns of GV or GVI because it is a milled coin. GIV era coins would have been handstruck there. Just a suggestion, I don't usually advise going to another forum for information - but in this case over at www.worldcoins.eu there are numerous members from SE Asia that are a great resource for identifying coins from that part of the world. WCO
Thank you for the help. I will ask on other forums too. Still hope someone on this forum will be able to identify the coin.
