1880 East London (Cape Province) penny token

Recommended Posts

Found this token on the web and as always interesting story behind. References document that the token was first issued without particular purpose but it was later used as a freey fare for crossing Buffalo River that runs through East London. Not a terribly rare thing - there are half a dozen availabel on the internet, but interesting piece of history.
