ikaros
I really like that East Africa shilling. I'd swear that's an older portrait of George VI than I'm used to seeing. Was there an 'older head' version on some Commonwealth issues that wasn't used in England?
ccg
This type of portrait (with the crown) was used in most of the commonwealth (with some variations), while Britain along with the Dominions (Canada, Australia, S.A., and I think N.Z.) used the uncrowned portrait. Yeah, Newfoundland used it too before they got rolled in with the rest of Canada. I was just thinking that George looked older than I'm used to seeing. Didn't spot a good earlier date on Omnicoin, but I only took a cursory look and will compare with earlier coins when I'm more awake.
