sigistenz
Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! What do you make of this coin? Genuine or not? Thank you, Merry Xmas 2 U 2! My specialty are the large coppers, but this coin does not look right. I would say that the contours are too sharp and that the coin seems to have been traveled in something like a plumber's toolbox to make it look circulated. Nobody would mistreat a commemorative like this. The uneven coloring does not look original either. Sigi

lennysky
I agree. The patina looks wrong. The lettering too sharp and a bit weird shaped as is the eye. Don't be tempted.
BKB
It would be nice to see the other 2 sides...
janneen
It would be nice to see the other 2 sides... Here's one. I'll try to photo the edge as well.
BKB
First try to stand it on the edge. See if it stands perpendicular to the table. I do not like what I see, but it can be the photographs. Look at the middle of the column. It looks like that it does not "stick out" of the field enough... janneen
First try to stand it on the edge. See if it stands perpendicular to the table. Did that-->OK Look at the middle of the column. It looks like that it does not "stick out" of the field enough...-->I compared it with a genuine one (bought from an auction house) -->Looks the same. Maybe I'll just send it into an auction-->If it's a fake it'll come back.
Candidate
It is hard to judge by picture (especially commemorative coins, the quality of forgeries of which is sometimes very high), but my first impression is that it looks genuine. But I'd refrain from final conclusion without having it in my hands.
gxseries
I think it's genuine but it would have been cleaned or gone through some ugly chemical damage.
