MMMM
Did you ever receive a banknote that the sleeve that it came in has a strong mothball smell to it? The note itself has an old book smell with a hint of mothball. Very odd, do you think the note may have been chemically cleaned?
Saor Alba
There are different substances used to clean banknotes, so different smells are possible. They usually are less than fragrant and pleasing to the olfactory senses. And one does ponder why people laugh at people sniffing notes at shows and auctions Surely there is good reason. This one is real odd. The smell comes from the sleeve that it was shipped in and does not seem to come from the note itself. Maybe they are trying to mask something? The note does seem to be a bit bright.
