Rhino
I know I should have probably posted this in the exonumia section, but I think the Russian coin collectors here may know more about this item: Came across this medal, which according to the inscription commemorates the 300 year anniversary of Romanov rule. My two questions are: How do I authenticate it (I'm guessing there are also fakes, reproductions, and private strikes in this field?) and if authentic, how much should I offer on it? I only collect Russian coins/notes, so none of my references touch on exonumia. Any help/input appreciated. I just really like this piece and thought it would go well in my collection next to my 1913 Romanov Rouble
aleksejsda
Hello! It is normal 300 yearы of Romanovs rule medal. For this one it will be enough to pay 30$.
Rhino
No other opinions? Any clue as to whether it's original or a private strike?
IgorS
Looks original to me (even though the portrait side is out of focus or something), struck at the mint, not a private issue. 1.5 million of these were struck.
