Swimmingly
I just ran across an Italian Lira dated 1940 which must be the non-magnetic variety described in km#77a, even though its composition is stainless steel, just like the magnetic variety which is km#77b. My coin is non-magnetic, but how is that possible if it's made of steel?

mmarotta
My coin is non-magnetic, but how is that possible if it's made of steel? I made the same mistake and even wtote a short story that hinged on this non-fact. See this Education site for a fast explantion to fill in some details: http://www.physlink.com/education/askexperts/ae546.cfm.
