More
Sorta looks like a 1953 shoulder fold nickle. It would be much easier to check out if you took the half second to put the coin in its right orientation. THere were 4 styles of 53 & only 2 of them are worth anything above face value in circulated condition Resubmit the photos... Twisting my head around to try & look at the photo's is hurting my neck ! More
Anyone please ? The photo's are easier to look at. You have a 'steel' 5 cent piece. Besides the 'NSF' or 'SF' 5 cent pieces, there is another characteristic called near or far maple leaves. You have a Near leaf version. That being the maple leafs on the reverse are closer to the denticles on the outer edge of the coin. I cannot tell if it is a shoulder fold or No Shoulder fold from the photo's...& I blew it up to 4 times the size you posted. If i could see the letter "I" clearly in the "DEI" part of the coin i could tell you for sure. But you can do it yourself possibly. IF the " I " looks like this " l " with just the smallest of flaring at the top & bottom of the " I " it is a Shoulder fold. If there is obvious flaring on the top & bottom of the " I " t is a NO shoulder fold. This is the best way to tell on worn circulation coinage such as you seem to have. Also because you may be confused by how much flaring is a little ...IF , the "E" in "DEI" has the top tail of the "E" almost touching the middle of the "E" it is a No shoulder fold. The "E" in "DEI" in your photo appears to be apart & that makes me think this 5 cent piece is shoulder fold, worth about $5.00 in VF...which I don't think this piece is, from the photo. Twisting my head around to try & look at the photo's is hurting my neck ! Your just not being inventive. No need to twist your neck. Just turn your monitor until the Nickel looks right.
