bill
I didn't really set out to buy this series in order, but my third acquisition is medal 3 with its book. I'm collecting them when I can with their original books. I typically get outbid, but I'm sometimes successful. Saint Brendan supposedly "discovered" America. Whether he did or not remains under debate, but we do know that no image of him has survived, so Mowbry-Clarke's image is fanciful at best. The obverse imagery relates to themes from the chronicles of Brendan's voyages. The reverse carries the theme that "he That Seeketh Shall Find." The 70mm bronze medal was struck by J.K. Davidson of Philadelphia in 1911.
