Ian
The only thing I know about this silver plated bronze item is that I don't know diddly.........other than it appears (from the obverse) to have been issued for some type of fire service associated with RAF Transport Command in 1953. Any insight most welcome.
constanius
The motto is for the RAF as a whole, the Motto for Transport Command was Ferio Ferendo(I strike by carrying), so the reverse is generic RAF & the inscription specifies it for Transport Command. The date, 1953, is the same year as the Coronation, see http://daveg4otu.tripod.com/nos10.html for a major RAF Coro related event. Not that your medal shows any hint of being related to either event.
