Saor Alba Posted May 1, 2010 Report Share Posted May 1, 2010 I know the regular 500 yen coins circulate as I have gotten them in change during my visits to Tokyo, but I don't recall seeing 500 Yen notes, I think the smallest notes now are 1000 yen. satootoko Posted May 8, 2010 Report Share Posted May 8, 2010 Your coins are part of the 47 Prefecture series that began in 2008, presumably inspired by the US 50 State Quarter series, but ~20/40 times more expensive!
