Rhino
Hey guys, I'm posting this for a friend who isn't on the forums (yet). He was recently looking to buy this 1893-CC morgan dollar, but since he's new in collecting he asked me for my opinion. Problem is, I only collect Russian coins so I'm no help, since I've never even held a Morgan in my hand. But, I figured someone on here would be able to tell me: 1. Is it real? Or some Chinese fake? 2. What is it worth? All help is greatly appreciated! The pictures below is all I have, just seller pics. Rhino
Turns out it's a fake. Some of the guys over on Cointalk answered the questions. Here's a link to those posts: http://www.cointalk.com/t100553/#post850227
ccg
Yes, it's almost certainly a modern Chinese base-metal piece. Colour and surface are the easier giveaways.
