Metalsparkle
I'm a coin/medal collector and reseller in China, and days ago I saw a very nice coin and I like it very much but the owner ask $1000 for the coin. But I don't know Russian, also I can't tell if its a fake one. Anyone who come from Russia or Ukrine can help me check this coin? I ‘m eager to know its history and his value. Thank you. Saor Alba
Just a side note on the anniversary. During 1979 Russia erected statue of a large memorial in Kyiv which remembers anniversary. Now it is sort of overlooked joke, and Ukrainians that don't like Russia refer to memorial as the "Yoke" as in oxen yoke.

All kidding aside, I know next to nothing about medals, but $1,000 is extreme. I would only pay $10 if that. This is just my opinion.

The status is turned so it's a$$ is facing Moscow.
Saor Alba
Kyiv is such beautiful city - I enjoy it very much, but kind of expensive to live there after coming in from Donets'k.

I agree a 100%, I have been back last October (I know live in NY) and I was amazed how the prices for some things like coffee or dinner, are so close to NY prices, where people's salaries are no where close to that of NY. Scary how there is almost no middle class, either people are super rich, or low class, living month to month, paycheck to paycheck.

Prices so bad I haul food in on the train, and drinks too for stays to Kyiv because prices so ridiculous and in city centre large food stores hard to find. Kyiv in the Maidan Square is wonderful place in the summer though - on weekends all traffic shut down there so only pedestrian walkways and fountains running. Here is view from my apartment in Kyiv, right across from police academy and just two blocks walk from Maidan: View of Pecherskaya Lavra seen from Bogdan Khmelnitsky Prospekt:
Saor Alba
Same place in December in night: This is Golden Gate church, which about 2 kilometres from Maidan Square, this is recreation of old ancient church in Kyiv: Taking conversation back to money we all like: I find this on bank building in Kyiv, funny to find monument to money and in English.
