declang
I was sorting through a mixed bag of bronze when i came across what looked like an 1861 wide date penny. The one in the date was 3mm from the 6, while on other 1861 pennies the 1 is 2mm from the 6. It isnt listed in the spinks guide. Any ideas? Mark Stilson
Don't know an answer but since you did not specify a country UK? I say that since Nova Scotia also had one. Figured the question might help someone else help you.
ScottO
its normal, why it isnt recognised as such is hard to say, but pennies of that period were recognised in the design aspect rather then date spacing
