Art Posted March 13, 2010 Report Share Posted March 13, 2010 US MPC Series 521 Issued: May 25,1954 Withdrawn: May 27,1958 Countries of use: Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Morocco, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Philippines, Ryukyus, Scotland, Trieste, Yugoslavia Printed by Forbes Lithographic, Boston, MA; numbered and separated by Bureau of Engraving and Printing Front of fractional notes "Allegorical" engraved by Arthur Wasserbach. $1 note front "Liberty" by G.F.C. Smillie. $1 note back engraved by John Eissler. $5 note front "Flowers of the South" was engraved by L. S. Schofield & D. S. Ronaldson while the back was engraved by G.F.C. Smillie. The $10 notes front design "Ceres" is another G.F.C. Smillie engraving while the back "Justice" was engraved by Marcus Baldwin. There were three printings for this series. The first included all denominations. The second printing excluded the $10 note while the third printing excluded both the $5 and $10 dollar notes.
