bill
I've gotten as close as I probably ever will to owing an 1800s fifty dollar slug from the California gold fields. Unfortunately, it is a fantasy piece and was possibly used as movie money. I bought this for fun.

thedeadpoint
Cool. You should try to track down the movie if it is an old prop. There can't be that many in movies. How much would an authentic piece cost?
jtryka
I saw an 1852 that sold at the Portland ANA in 2004, I think it went for around $50K with the juice.
hiho
Very nice. I don't normally buy copies but I have a 1915 Panama Pacific $50 Gold reproduction as it's as close as I will ever get to the real thing. It's quite nice actually.
