sandy3075
Just sorted out a 1940 penny I bought right before the New Year (had been traveling as usual) and found it to be nice very fine specimen of the no dot/star after date variety. One could easily see this even on poor quality eBay pictures, but I was not sure if the coin is reasonably good to keep it around. Thinking about it a bit more I'll post some of the varieties of the george VI pennyes as I research my specimen, I already know that I have at least 3 in 1942 and there are at least 2 in 1940, so one can use this as a sort of a guide. Here is a 1940 no dot/star after date variety

sandy3075
Well, I may just as well continue with the thread on date varieties for South African coins. Here is the 1943 farthing dates varieties - close and spaced 9 and 4 in the date. Also 4 has a wider base quite visible.
