Art Salmons
I bought this coin at a coin Show in Denver in the late 90's because of its detail and color. When I got home I was checking the date to match it up against what was on the 2x2 flip. I put it under a lighted magnifying glass I have for tying flies and I finally figured out it was a 1799 but the coin has some surface issues around the date. The dealer had told me that it had a problem and steeply discounted the coin so I wasn't upset about it. So here it is and you will see some digs in the date area and the top of the B in Britannia is smeared or rubbed down. The coin is strong everywhere else and has very good eye appeal in terms of strike and color. Obverse Reverse Date area blown it
Art
Very nice find. I don't think that I have one of those.

ccg
Nice piece. Maybe there was some grease on the die resulting in weakly struck date?
