strange 1930 lincoln wheat penny found

Recommended Posts

Hello!

First of all I want to say Hi to everyone at coin coin people. I am a new member and this is my first post.

What led me here is a question I have about a 1930 D Wheat penny.

The other day my wife and I were at a thrift store and I was checking out some cool shoes.

I picked one up and felt a jingle and a coin fell out onto the ground (penny)

I picked it up and rubbed it a bit to see the date. It was very dirty!

It was a 1930 D wheat penny, who hooo! Big deal right???

well I flipped it from side to side horizontily and the back didnt line up I thought it was a little strange.

Whats funny is I ended up buying the shoe. Fit perfectly.

So since then i have been combing over the internet and have not found any information about any rareities of that nature with the 1930 Ds

I havent even found that error in any error list of coins.

So my question is..

Is that a common error and worth nothing?

Or is it such a rare error that it is extremely valuable?

I checked every penny I own wheat and not and have not found one with an offset back like that.

It is probably offset by nearly and eight of an inch

Thanks for looking and I appreciate anyones comments.

JR
