numhysteria
Hello, I was having a small debate with someone on how the proof silver eagles are minted and handled atferwards. A proof coin should be taken by hand out of the die after the minting process and placed in a capsule or box. At least, that's what I know. Proof silver eagles have mintages up to 1,000,000+. Is every single proof eagle taken out by hand? How long will that last to handle that many coins? So, my question is: do all these proofs come out of the die just regular coins do and fall into some kind of bucket or, in order to avoid contacts, every coin is carefully taken out individually and placed in capsule or box? Thank you.
